Year 6

The National Science Week

On the 13th to the 17th of August students of Sirius College had celebrated The National Science Week. During this week we have had many Science based activities where all classes form Foundation to Year 6 participated. These activities include Science assembly, where Year 6 students presented different branches of Science and their importance, read various poems about science and quotes of famous scientists. The assembly was ended with a short Science Trivia which everyone enjoyed. On Friday the 17th of August, students were given the opportunity to further explore different branches of science by participating in various hands on activities which were full of fun. Students got the chance to perform experiments related to different branches of Science e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Mathematics etc.

The aim to celebrate The National Science Week was to promote the positive aspects of the subject, and to enhance the scientific knowledge of the students. Get students excited about Science and encourage them to participate in activities at school and continue having fun with Science in daily life.

Student feedback about the Science Week

• The science week was really fun. It taught me many things e.g. how to make parachutes and paper planes and what happened when you mix different liquids together. The dress up was really fun, students wore really cool costumes. The Science week was real fun. (Ayshanur Sheriff )
• Science week was great especially dressing up as mad scientist and recording a video with our teacher. I also enjoyed presenting my topic about Biology in the Science assembly on Monday morning in front of whole school. My favourite science experiment was milk, soap and food colouring. (Tahira Quwat)
• Science week was so crazy especially when we dressed up as mad scientists. When we did experiments we felt like real scientists. I also liked to participate in Science Assembly start of the week. (Raaihan Syed)
• Science week was exciting; everyone had cool wigs on. All the students looked funny like me even our teachers. We participated in different science activities. My favourite activity was building bridge out of straws. (Mohammed Hameed).
